any good shops in south carolina?

i am not a big fan of the one audio shop in Aiken and other than that i dont know of any except maybe "elite audio"??? i heard someone mention their name, but i have no idea how they are.

how far are all of u guys from Goose Creek, SC. because i'll be at base there also in about 3 months. i just want to know whats around there to do and what good shops there are.

im in columbia, the shops around here are extreme kustoms (horrible), ultimate audio (decent from what ive heard) and performance audio (who does the best work, eric the owner is a really good guy) and nortons (who do pretty good work too, i havent seen any "custom" installs from them tho.).

audio fx is a good shop. I've known the owner Paul for a good 15 yrs or so. And being an American bass user myself I may be impartial , but it's good stuff. u can also try Soundmasters in Bishopville. Kind of a a partner to audio fx and where I go for all my stuff. Good guys.

I wouldn't go to any shops in sumter, overpriced just like anything thats not on the internet..

Power Audio is straight on Broad St..

PS. I go to the base gym all the time much fun.. lol

extreme audio sells treo, jl, kicker, focal, kenwood. They sell good products but Im not sure about their work and they will try and rip your ass

Soundmasters is located closer to town, almost right behind Taylors discount tobacco. Drive on 15N toward bville. turn right at the light (church street) and then make another right at the next light. soundmasters will be on your right.

Ask for john. hes the owner and pretty good and has outfitted a few of my friends and is about to put a 10 in my nissan frontier (if the box will fit)....

as for what they carry? XXX, audiopupe, american bass, fusion, uuuh crunch and some others. hes pretty diversified.

peace hope you find it

Yeah bro I'm from Goose Creek, SC. I live right off the base. Look there are a decent amount of shops in the Charleston Metro Region. In Goose Creek there's the Kustom Shop. I've never heard anything good about them. Only really slimy stuff. So be forewarned with that.

In North Charleston on Rivers Ave across the from the Naval Hospital there's Auto Sound Specialist... IMHO he is the absolute best there is in Charleston. Bar None. He's steep on his prices but you will walk away happy if you decide on him. That's why I didn't go to him to do my truck. But the owners name is chip lucas and the shop has trophies and articles from mags for its vehicles and installs all around the showroom.

Another quality installer is Custom Car Stereo west of the ashley. About a five minute drive across the bridge from Chip Lucas in West Ashley. Both of these shops have a stellar rep in the area and have been around for well over twenty years. Theres Nortons in charleston. They do quality work too and even have a show car at the shop (plus installs always going on) so you can seen their quality for yourself before you even walk in the shop.

Now there's also 360 Motoring and Unique (or something like that... its off of ladson road) both in ladson (about fifteen minutes away from the base) but they haven't been around long. There's another one that just opened this year on rivers before chip lucas (A small yellow building a bit before Siesta Motorlodge and Cox Auto Sales) but I don't remember the name. They really aren't a quality shop from what I seen when I visited the shop. Its small, all the brands are crap, and the install bay is a joke. Plus they just let folks hang around and beg in front of the shop and around the cars.

Hope this helps man but check them all out and get your own feel for the shops and components.

I'm right in West Ashley... I don't doubt Auto Sound Specialists quality, I spoke with them for a while and found a better option and ran with that. Custom car stereo is great quality too, but for the price you pay it's in no way worth it IMO. Although they do have a great shop. A1 Sound Specialists is the only place I've done business with... and only for 2 enclosures... but I'm pretty confident Custom nor Specialists make a nicer enclosure. And it was half the price of specialists and 1/4 the price of Custom. Just a real down to earth dude not trying to bend his customers over basically...

Just my experiences... check them out and decide for yourself.

I quick call to each shop should help you weed out the outdated ones. Good luck. Do come back with updates and pictures if you please.
