These passive component speakers have many great reviews but I’ve been trying for a long time to EQ my system to sound right with them. They are just far too shrill— highs are high and mids are lacking.
So naturally, I thought that this was the fault of the tweeters. The crossover frequency of the external crossover is not given. After weeks of tweaking the EQ, trying to get those highs down, I unplugged the tweeters to see if I can precision-tune JUST the woofers. I found that the highs were still very present! Lol and behold, input a 15 KHz tone, and could STILL HEAR IT THROUGH THE WOOFERS. This baffles me!! Isn’t the entire point of the crossover to prevent this? I feel like if I cracked open the “crossovers” I would just see a wire splice and 0 electrical components!! What gives? Is this normal? Was I shipped some Chinese knockoff speakers? What a scam...
