Silverado Suspension upgrade help

The 3500 springs are the same as the 2500. On the 3500 there's a extra helper spring on top. You could always just add a few leaves to your pack. Find a junkyard model and get the spring. Get longer center pins and new spring clamps.

that's what id do, if you want to verify they'll fit before you order just give them a call.
depending on what your bushings look like it might be a good idea to change them out so you dont get squeaking from the spring perches. i know mine are nearly shot

Just contacted JC Whitney and apparently the 3500 springs will not fit on my truck for some reason..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Brother in law did the high capacity rubber bump stops for his 05 z71 he paid like 150 and work awesome. He pulls a 10500lbs fifth wheel.

just because their computer says it wont fit doesnt mean ****. of course it wont fit without taking the blocks out or using different shocks, id talk to someone who actually knows leaf springs about it, not a customer service rep

I used to load 2500 Chevys with 3500lbs pallets on cement blocks and they would squat but would haul the weight. 2000lbs should be ok. I'd still have that helper spring. Because they are flipped around making it handle the load so much better... If this is a daily driver I just don't see the need or purpose for that many batteries. That's unpractical and unessary but to each their own... Oh and make sure you have load E tires
Clear your PM's

Cool, I'm going to call a dealer in Decatur on Monday and see how much these helper bags will cost me

Yeah, I'll take the helper bags out and buying new shocks isn't an issue to me. Here's how the conversation with "Lucy" went last night //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

8:08:53 PM : Lucy: Thanks for chatting with JCWhitney.com This is Lucy. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
8:09:32 PM : Alex Ulbrich: I am just checking to see if the leaf springs I have selected will fit my truck. I have a 2007 Silverado 1500 Classic.

8:10:06 PM : Alex Ulbrich: I am wanting to put 3500 rear leaf springs on it. This is the product I have selected:1999 - 2012 Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra 1500, 1999 - 2010 2500 / 3500 rear leaf spring, 3300 lbs capacity, 8(7/1) leaves

8:11:08 PM : Lucy: I'll be glad to help you please wait.

8:11:21 PM : Lucy: Let me check the link.

8:11:41 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Ok, I'm not sure if the link was correct. Here's what I was looking to get: http://www.jcwhitney.com/skyjacker-softride-leaf-springs/p3070017.jcwx?filterid=c11310d50571y2007g210j1

8:14:13 PM : Lucy: I apologize this is not a jcwhitney part number.

8:15:23 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Yes, the first link was incorrect, that was from another website. The second link I added was to your website. It is the skyjacker 3500 leaf springs: http://www.jcwhitney.com/skyjacker-softride-leaf-springs/p3070017.jcwx?filterid=c11310d50571y2007g210j1

8:15:53 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Please look at that link, because it is a JC Whitney product on the site. Sorry for the confusion

8:16:23 PM : Lucy: I'm sorry about that when I entered the previous link above I was getting another site. But now I have the JC Whitney page thanks.

8:16:48 PM : Lucy: This is ok just a minute to get the fit information for you.

8:16:58 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Alright, thank you

8:18:13 PM : Lucy: No problem please stand by...

8:19:43 PM : Lucy: Do you know if your vehicle's sub model is a Hybrid, LS, LT, SS, or WT?

8:20:59 PM : Alex Ulbrich: It is an LT. Crew cab with a standard bed and it has the Z71 package if that makes any difference with what leaf springs fit

8:24:08 PM : Lucy: Thank you for waiting please wait.

8:25:24 PM : Lucy: Sorry for delay system is running slow.

8:25:44 PM : Lucy: These will not fit your vehicle I will look for leaf springs that will fit.

8:27:04 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Ok, I am hauling an extra 2,000 pounds in the bed of my truck at all imes and need leaf springs that will maintain or exceed the stock ride height. Was hoping to get 3500 springs so I could haul extra if I have to

8:28:25 PM : Lucy: Notes: 7.5 in. leaf spring arc length; 1.5 in. pack thickness http://www.jcwhitney.com/dorman-oe-replacement-leaf-springs/p3051268.jcwx?skuId=10374521& Check this link please let me know if this is what you are looking for?

8:32:57 PM : Lucy: Alex, are you still with me?

8:33:36 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Yes, how much weight would those springs handle?

8:36:08 PM : Lucy: I don't show this information. Let me check please wait.

8:39:53 PM : Lucy: I apologize for delay please stand by I'm trying to get this information for you.

8:40:18 PM : Lucy: For the Leaf Springs.

8:40:44 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Ok

8:42:53 PM : Lucy: Alex, This leaf springs are OE Replacement will hold same capacity as factory leaf springs.

8:45:35 PM : Alex Ulbrich: Well, what I need is upgraded leaf springs that will handle a 2,000+ pound load every day. If JC Whitney does carry anything like this that will fit my truck, please have the link emailed to me at

After telling her I needed upgraded springs to haul more, she recommends stock springs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

I have a 04 single wheel 3500 I'll look under it and measure the springs, and compare them to my 1500. It will be Monday before I can check it out though. I know the 3500 has 7 leaves in the pack compared to the 3 that my 1500 has. I'm almost certain they are still 2.5" wide leaves. The only difference may be the hangers and shackles, but I'll verify it Monday.

Thank you!! That would be very helpful!

Thanks, if anyone would know they would, lol. Might call them Monday.

Went to three parts stores today and nobody could help me with leaf springs for less than $500.

O'Riley, Advance Autoparts, and Auto Zone were the stores I went to.

None of them carried 3500 leaf springs and couldn't even order them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

The 3500 leaf springs weren't in any of their computer systems for some reason. Also, nobody could tell me that they would fit even if they could order them. I got lots of "maybe's".

O'Riley's was the least helpful. Nobody working in there knew anything about trucks and they were Ford guys so they didn't know much about GM fitment.

Advance Autoparts didn't know, but they gave me a number to a local salvage yard with good pricing. I might be calling that yard Monday to see what kind of deal they can get me and if they have any on hand,

Auto Zone was the most helpful. Their tech went out of his way to help me find springs that would fit. He did find springs for a '95 truck that would fit mine perfectly, but they were $320 each //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

He even said he could knock the price down to $275 each and have them in by 5:00 tomorrow. I've only got $337 in my account, and there's got to be a cheaper option out there though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

just buy the ones from general spring unless the shipping is excessive, call them if you want to verify theyll fit..
Yeah, I'll call on Monday.

I've got everything ready to go except my springs, so I'm inchin' to get all these batteries and amps in!

Well, just got an air bag kit that says it can handle an extra 5k pounds, lol. Should be enough.

I now have only $25 left //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Plus, my next paycheck will be blown at the strip club next Friday night. We're going for my friend Jacob's birthday, lol
