Recommendation on Sundown SA-8 or SA-12

A SA-8 with the right amp and right enclosure will def be a nice choice. They are little monsters! I run a sundown E8v4 and while def not an SA-8, it works pretty darn good for my small car.

Will I be happy with and 8" subwoofer?

Will I be happy with and 8" subwoofer?

Granted my car is smaller than yours, I drive a 2000 subaru 2.5rs sedan. I am running a sundown e8v4 in a custom ported enclosure mated to a JL audio e1400d amp, 400rms at 2 ohms. I am pretty happy with how it sounds and performs. I have more than enough base without pounding my brains out...

    Sundown E8V3D2 (8" 300w) vs Soundstream R3.8 (8" 500w)

I am running a (1) sundown e8v4 in a custom ported enclosure. I think it's about .65 cubic feet (can't remember for sure). Running off a JL audio e1400d at 2 ohms. Amp is 400rms at 2 ohms. Make sure to set your gain correctly. I did via dmm and it def made a difference than just guessing. I...

0 gauge to 4 gauge reducers

Do any of you know if anyone sells 4 gauge ends that allow cleaner hookup to the amp. When I put my wires in the amp (power and ground), it was very hard to get them into the amp connections cleanly. Or is there a nifty secrete I don't know about.

Ground location suggestions - photos included

So I redid the ground and will be setting gain via dmm this weekend. A new enclosure is also being built as per the suggestion of sundown and they provided me with a revised slightly smaller internal volume design as their design which I used, was really designed for the SA8, not the E8. Hoping...

Gain via dmm - some quick questions

So, here is what I will do on Saturday. I will leave the H/U setting at 80hz +3 and set the gain just to see where things fall. I can always tweak thereafter but since my gain is set to 60% for the time being (was by ear and probably done poorly) setting via dmm is certainly better than just...

Gain via dmm - some quick questions

^^ Thanks, I believe the setting is 125hz or if you are referring to the leave it at 80 and put the output level to +6 which I believe is the highest.

Gain via dmm - some quick questions

So I checked this morning, once the subwoofer #1 setting is set to normal, subwoofer #2 setting only has freq cutoff numbers, there is no off option. So I assume I should just leave it 80 for setting the gain and bring the +2 down to 0. Thanks.

Gain via dmm - some quick questions

^^ Thanks, does this also hold true to regular listening? I have to check my H/U but I do not think there is an actual off setting for the LPF on the H/U. I think once the subwoofer #1 setting is to normal (meaning on) I have to set something in the LPF. I will check tomorrow morning and...

Gain via dmm - some quick questions

Trumpet, yes, speakers are powered by H/U. Your point is well taken. With regards to the LPF, when you say leave as is, which one are you referring to, the H/U, amp or both? Thanks

Gain via dmm - some quick questions

Gents, I will be setting my gain via dmm this weekend. A few quick questions, H/U is a pioneer DEH-3300UB, amp JL Audio E1400D, sub is a sundown E8 ver.4 in a slotted custom enclosure. On the H/U, I know all audio settings, base, mid and high set to 0. Loudness off. How about the cutoff...

Ground location suggestions - photos included

So, I'm gonna ground to the rear strut/shock tower and go from their. I'll update once I get it done, just depends on when this rainy weather clears up.

Ground location suggestions - photos included

Guys I feel kind stupid, that hole underneath the large gold bolt in photo #3 above, I didn't realize I can run the ground wire right underneath the plastic panel and then to the amp which is pretty close. That hole also has room where I can reach behind and use a nut so unless someone thinks...

Ground location suggestions - photos included

Not yet, I am going to try and do the ground today if time permits. So I took some more pics after removing the rest of the back seat. Two options I see Option #1 - ground the the rear shock tower, simply remove one nut, sand and clean area, install ground and reinstall nut. This area has a...
