    Box too big? 2 SA12s

Figured it out. Found out my back and front walls were flexing so braced with some all thread rod. It made a world of difference. Excuse the sawdust I hadn't cleaned up yet when I took the pic lol. Thank for all the input guys

Sorry, for my box? Or the 5.25cft net audio was talking about?

    Box too big? 2 SA12s

Sorry for the dp lol.  I just read up some on the smaller/shallower boxes not letting the subs get the low bass extension. Like @DRBOOM said above. Sounds like my problem. I guess I had it backwards thinking it was 5.25cft and too big lol.

    Box too big? 2 SA12s

Well now I feel stupid. I never double checked I just believed what net audio told me which was 5.25cft. Thanks. I just took actual measurements and its 60" width by 10" up top and 60" by 11" bottom. 18" height.

Sorry that is the only picture I had on my phone of mine personally. Here is a picture from netaudios site of one similar to mine to show where the port and subs location is.

    Box too big? 2 SA12s

@DRBOOM thanks man, very informational. Now the way my box is designed is kinda similar to the underseat boxes, as it's not very deep to fit behind my rear seats. Just wide to make up the interior airspace.  I dont have exact measurements right off my head right now but exterior is about 52"ish...

    Box too big? 2 SA12s

hey guys, I have two Sundown Sa12s rev3 d4 wired to 1ohm on a Digital designs m1d in a box built by net audio. its 5.25cft air space with port tuned to 34hz. now I see sundown recommends only up to 2cft ported per sub. so is that 1.25cft over the suggested max effecting my subs performance? thanks

    subs amp underpowered?

Hey, this is still on my mind so I was researching some. Sundown recommends 1.5-2cft for ported per sa12, that would be 4cft ported max for my two. so my box being 5.25cft that would be impacting my performance too?

try using actual insulated/protected rca cable rather than a speaker wire in a rca connector

    subs amp underpowered?

Honestly didnt even think of it being the head unit. The new one I did ground the rcas like showed the sticky thread and done a chassis ground on the ground wire connection on the harness also. Gains on both amps are much lower and it's just so much more enjoyable to listen too. I appreciate...

    subs amp underpowered?

got a multimeter out and tested 1.2 ohms at the speaker wires to the amp.  tested the subs rca cables with them unplugged from the amp and a 50hz tone on volume 40 on the headunit I received 3.3v on the amps side of the cables I tested the rca/aux cable also from my phone at 100% volume...

    subs amp underpowered?

okay so ive turned my gains down, subsonic filter to 25hz lpf to 80hz. turned the sub level up to 6. no bass boost. adjusted the equalizer to what "sounds better". volume up in the 30s then adjusted gain up to about 1/3 (at about 1/2 gain I get clipping) at this it sounds about what it was at...
