What Brand of Head Unit Do You Have ?

I have had a few Pioneers. 2400Bt, a 2500BT, and now a 501EX. I stuck with them for awhile because if I felt like upgrading for several years all I had to do was pop the dash open, unplug one unit, and plug in another. I'd usually pick up an older model on its way out to get whatever features I...

input sensitivity setting mistakes on JL XD600/1

If it had damaged anything things would have stopped running properly. You are probably fine. There has to be a kind of perfect storm to blow things. Overly aggressive settings won't necessarily do it by themselves if you don't actually blast it for extended periods of time.

Debating between Pioneer and JVC double din

I would do research to see how the Voice recognition on the JVC works. You would have to pay alot more money to get a Pioneer with that.

pioneer p2400bt and triggering voice recognition

I have the 2400BT. My understanding of the manual is this is not a model where you can trigger phone voice recognition features through the head unit. I know exactly the button you speak of and it doesn't show up for me either when I am trying to do this. I think this may be possible on certain...

Cheap flip out head unit... only req is at least 20rms x 4

What would happen if it only had like 16 watts rms.

Advice on Double DIN SQ headunit

IMHO on the subject of SQ in relation to a head unit, if you're serious about it you'll want something that gives you all the tune-ability you need in one unit to make the most of your setup possible without requiring an outboard processor. Genuine SQ units tend to be devoid of the 'flash and...

Can I use 50RMS speakers with 60RMS per channel amp?

10 watts is meaningless. It takes a doubling of power just to get a 3 db increase in loudness that is perceptible to the human ear. The amp may be rated at 60 watts on a continuous test tone played at maximum volume but in real life while playing music, power output is all over the charts as the...

    My first aftermarket sound system..??

Won't diss you for equipment. I will diss you for the fact that 110 bucks would buy half way decent front speakers. But you will instead choose to go with conventional wisdom that says the back of your head needs to hear, and spread it out among four more mediocre speakers.

Is it dangerous to run 800W speakers without amps

Pioneer TS E6995 Reviews Not subs, the op just sorely misunderstands wattage ratings.

Is it dangerous to run 800W speakers without amps

Power does not kill speakers, people do. I do not care what you have ever been told or heard about from so and so who ran speakers off a hu and claims that fried them, or who ran 40 more watts to a pair of speakers than they are rated for, and claims that fried them. Anyone who has ever claimed...

    Alpine CDA-9886

It's not a great head unit, just a few nice doo-dads to make it a nice step up from the base level ones. The new CDA 117 is a better bet. Alpine's first departure in a while from the 'let them pay for IMPRINT if they want more' business model.

Adjusting the bass and treble on a 9887

Take some time, tuning using the crossovers, sub level, and EQ so most of what you play sounds good then use the sublevel to adjust from there. I have a pioneer with a 16 band graphic and no specific bass/treble controls. I found once I took some time and set my EQ and filters right I rarely...

    Just got new Alpine Cda-117

I am a prior owner of a 9883, 9884, and 9886. Also one older Alpine tape deck from 03/04. I was just checking their website since I haven't browsed in awhile. I'm impressed and hoping this means they're thinking of incorporating a better choice of head units with built-in content into their...

thought I posted this a few weeks ago...how important is security?

Yes, they still take them. Depends on what your surroundings like and where you park. And also, how much work is involved in figuring out what you have and taking your **** as compared to the car parked next to yours. If you have a highly modified flashy vehicle with an alarm and they can at...

    Good Setup?

I know when I hear the rhytmless pounding and booming coming from the vehicle sitting behind me at the drive through or while I'm sitting in stop and go traffic I think to myself how awesome it is and hope I will be stuck near it for as long as possible. Seriously, please, I'm begging you... at...
