    sub box mods

I would rather have a plain carpeted box to fit into my car stealthily, not stand out. Looks classy, not ricer. But I guess that's just my opinion, and if you can do some lighting that looks good (ie. draws attention to design features yet isn't comprised of flashing blue neons) then that's...

    Splaudio's custom subs thread

@SPLaudio my custom 12" is up and running, but I now have no car to fit it in! Is pretty beast though, almost wish I'd kept the old Mazda just to see what this sub could do! And I get claiming rights as to the first SPLaudio sub in the southern hemisphere I believe. . . . EDIT: just realised...

    IA Comp set BNIB

Hey man, you were going to PM me about a pair of these in coax form, but decided I'll man up, do the work, and run comps. Reckon you could sort me a price for these shipped to NZ? I PMed you my address.

Should I use the same gauge of speaker wire inside and outside of sub enclosures.

Bolts are all good if you need to be able to remove them, but it's worth finding out if the bolts you are using are of good conductive material. If I ever needed to be able to remove the wires from the outside of the box I'd go with bolts for sure.

Recommend me some budget 6" coaxials :)

How would these go against some of the Incriminator Audio 6.5 coaxs? The pricing for both is similar, but I like the look of that 2 ohm option, can run them at their rated power much more cleanly then. Have been offered the Incriminator Audio 6.5s by a member on here, and have only heard good...

    AudioTechnix 60mil Review

I bought 50 sq.ft. of this stuff and love it, has stood up to some pretty cold temps, was installing it in below zero temps the other day. Ran the engine for a few mins and sat it on the hood to get it warm, and just stuck it straight in. Top stuff and a good guy to deal with for sure.

That seems really cheap! Would they get loud though? I do actually have a set of tweets lying around too, so could be an option, would rather just run coaxials in this car though.

Ok will look elsewhere, any recommendations? What about some 2 ohm ones, is that worth doing?

Recommend me some budget 6" coaxials :)

I think I might have to actually, seems to be much more in that market. I'll have to do some work but yes, let's make it a 6.5

Recommend me some budget 6" coaxials :)

Hey guys, need to get some coaxials for my MR2, have a max mounting depth of 60mm, would like something that will get decently loud for the price and sound good. Won't be running subs at all (sad, I know ) so preferably something that can hit some low notes well too. Have an amp that can give...

    88.9 mm xmax????????

sounds like a typical car audio rating lie. Like Boss rating subs at 1500rms. Yeah right.

Running power wire direct off alt?

Well after all of this great banter I am sorry to report that the car won't be getting a sub after all. I realised whilst cutting up parts of the car to remove weight that having a sub was just stupid in this car. To clarify, my MR2 is quite different to the crappy USDM ones that you guys...

Running power wire direct off alt?

Sure is mate haha in that case I can see where you were coming from. I'll check out the size of the factory wiring tomorrow or something, been so cold lately it's hard to force myself outside, and if it is a large gauge then I will definitely just run off the alt.

Running power wire direct off alt?

A lot of different opinions/theories on this and I'm still pretty lost, although @maylar is thinking exactly the same way as me now that I look at it more. It is not as if the battery will be excluded, it will just be a bit far away, and the positive and ground wire will have to be stepped...
