Talk about bringing back an older thread. How can i tell if one of my tweeters are blown? They sound good with some songs but i can hear crackling in others, Is my gain to high maybe? Also, looking to find out if my polarity is correct, any tips on how to do this with components? Thanx

Just went out and i unplugged the red rca the sub kept working with the white one in. Took out the white and put in the red one sub turns off. I have a y rca splitter, plugged the white one into the Y splitter sub works, plugged the red sub turns off. Im assuming the rca's going to my unit are...

yeah, the sub only stays on when i pan to the right though, it goes completely off when i pan to the left. Dont know if thats normal..... Also any way to find out if my components polarity are correct? I know theres a battery test but i read its not recommend for components.

Yeah i was thinking this too. Im guess its probably clipping... Bass on the head unit it is actually in the negatives, Loudness off, and the bass boost is all the way down. I would think the JL amp would be good enough for three 12's. But looks like ill need something bigger.

Not trying to hi jack your thread 13alle but i'm having a problem with my setup as well. I have the 500/1 connected to three 12" JLw3v3's. I had two wired first, but now that i added a third sub my amp turns off. If i lower the gain it wont do it but once i turn up the gain it will shut off...

Whats the average midbass frequency range? Ive had some Focals in there before which ran my 300+ i know they arent high end speakers but the ID's sound so much better.
