My first "Active" "SQ'ish" build attempt.

Those pods look pretty cool . I was thinking of getting some but I would really like to learn to build my own . I have been following a guy on Facebook in the UK . He is a master at building those right on the A-pillar . Check out his site . PsSound . Dont hold your breath on getting them...

Is this possible, 4 channel amp for car speakers and sub?

I would go a step up and get the 5ch Pioneer . Hard to find one on stock right now though . Some old school stuff would allow you to run 2 front channels stereo and the rear in mono . My Orions will do that . Some old 2ch amps will allow you to use the left and right channels and still get full...

just grabbed Orion Xtreme 800 - thoughts

My buddy said he never liked that series . Said other amps hit harder . I dont agree with him . Since I got back into car audio I have read they had issues with bad caps in some of those . One guy thought the caps were falsely rated and stated he was replacing the 36v with 50v caps . I almost...

    All cheap amps garbage?

My family were Pioneer dealers from the 70's through the 90's . There amps never did impress me back then . They had twice the rated distortion of other amps and were expensive . In the 80's I would take a Sanyo PA6100 over pioneer any day of the week . I look at some of the stuff now they make...

Head units with good audio signal

Look for head units with 4-5 volts of output on the preamps . My Kenwood Excelon must put out the 5 volts cause I have to have the gain turned all the way down on my PPI eq to not clip the input . If I hadnt got the Kenwood I would have ordered this ...

    Some weird issue

If they smoke they are toast . Dude you have a 2500 watt amp hooked up to 250 watt speakers ? I would not be running mono with two different speakers . You have to be careful not to overwork the weakest one .

    Which amp should I get?

At 230 watts its already putting out 1% distortion . You notice after that first test you never see the distortion amount again .

    Some weird issue

Ive put a meter on speakers and tested them by moving the cone by hand . I have had tindle strings cause intermittent issues . That does sound strange . I hate intermittent problems

Recommendations for an amplifier for a single cab pick up.

I just did an install on a 2006 Z71 . I would go with a JL amp . Go 5 channels . Whatever you do you want to be able to control the front and rear highs . I have an extra cab so imaging might be a little different . I know I dont want my rear highs to outplay my front highs . Im still actually...

    Some weird issue

Well it sounds like you have them wired together . I would think in series from your issue . Sounds to me like you already found the problem . If that P1 is less than a year old take it where you bought it from and get a free replacement . I wouldnt over think it . These are entry level speakers...

    Amplifier Recommendations please

Rule of thumb is the more watts the more spl . Smaller amps can sound better though . Put a top of the line Zapco or JL against your cheaper amps and you will hear a difference . Im in the same boat as you somewhat . I just installed a couple Punch 12's . Im missing something on certain songs...

    Amplifier Recommendations please

Just because its there doesnt mean you want to use it . My eq is rated at .001% distortion . Can I tell its that clean . Yes . But my ears would think the same at .05% . The rest is bragging rights . You could also have resonance coming from your car that cancels certain notes .

    Amplifier Recommendations please

Im curious why you want to eliminate something that protects your speakers . You can not hear notes that low and anything below 25hz is damaging . The best thing you could add is a paragraphic equalizer . Both pieces of your equipment have a range of 20-250hz . Looks like a good setup you have...
