Typical disgruntled employee. Very few can make the grade to work at Audio 2000. Bill is very particular about the quality of work that comes out of the shop. Quality comes first. I assume you didn't make it more than a couple weeks.

When you clip the signal, the amp is now trying to hold the speaker in one direction. This can be caused by the signal clipping from the deck, low voltage, poor ground, crap recording and the connection between the driver seat and the volume knob. The last is usually the first problem to look...

Then the problem could be your ground as mentioned before. Also, if the amp is not strong enough to control the mass of the moving parts of the speaker, you're still loosing control of the speaker just at a lower level. Dampening factor is a critical part of making subs do the right thing. You...

When the dampening is gone, the mass of the speakers moving parts are too much for the amp to control, the speaker is now moving in one direction while the amp is trying to move it the other direction. This generates heat. Enough to make a voice coil destroy itself.

Use a volt meter and check the ground resistance from your amp ground to your battery terminal. Many cars are glued together so by the time your system sees the ground of the actual battery, you may have 10 or more ohms of resistance. That will shut down an amp easily. Newer Ford F-150's have...

Man, I'd love to see your vehicle. I haven't had a real SPL customer in years. I really miss building the monsters like that. Many don't realize just what's involved in building something that powerful. I have to congratulate you on your SPL numbers. That's quite an accomplishment.

Love the tornado hair styling. We've built some SPL vehicles too. We won the IDBL finals back in 2001 with a 166.7 and runner up in port wars in USAC with a 176.5. The numbers have go way up since then though. What are you using for amps & subs? Looks like you're probably in the high 160's...
