07' Tahoe troubles

Vehicle: 2007 Tahoe, w/bose and onstar

HU: Clarion max675vd

Other options: Clarion's CCA673 ipod control, Sirius SirCL3

Adapters used: PAC OS-3Bose, PAC Swi-x steering wheel interface, PAC gmrvd

(speak up if there are better adapters to use)

I've got quite a bit of experience with car audio installations, although, nothing quite this involved as far as adapters and factory hurdles to overcome with the lanbus in this Tahoe. I took my time this weekend with all the wiring, and everything went smoothly. But, nevertheless, I have run across a few problems.

First, I read a bulletin on the PAC site that they are having problems with the OS-3Bose plug, and they suggested bypassing the adapter for the power/ground and data wires, and wiring them direct to the factory wire. No problem, done.

Second, the swi-x is a real pain. I have had to reprogram it a couple times already this weekend. I know once my wife starts driving "her" Tahoe, she is going to flip if the steering wheel controls don't work. I plan on calling PAC on Monday to discuss the programming for this adapter.

Finally, and the big one. When I start the car, the Clarion unit comes on for about 10 seconds, shuts itself off for about 3 seconds, then turns itself back on. Any ideas? In addition, when I put the car in reverse, the unit shuts itself off and back on again. I thought the reverse shutoff may have to do with the backup camera capabilities, even though we don't have a camera installed. Oh yeah, my wife just informed me the blinkers are now silent. They work fine, they just don't have the tick...tick.....tick sound.

I'm ready to put the stock stereo back in, hopefully someone has some solutions. Thanks for the help

i also have this unit, i have no problems with it turning off sparadically, check your connections it sounds like you have a loose wire or something , i have had no problems with this unit what so ever.... also i am loking for a steering wheel interface, have you had any progress on this matter?

Thanks for the response,

I couldn't get it figured out, and with a vacation road trip looming, I took it in to a local shop. They proceeded to tell me the bose adapter was bad, couldn't warranty the item, and instead sold me one of their adapters for $250. I was pretty pissed, but in a crunch, so I said ok. After they worked on it for 2 days, I got the Tahoe back just in time to pack up the three kids, and hit the road. We gave the kids the wireless headphones to watch a movie on the overhead. Didn't work. Steering wheel controls that they supposedly fixed were only working on "tuner" mode. The back up sensors weren't working anymore either.

Needless to say I was extremely pissed now. I called the shop, and they said they couldn't fix it for a week. (I'm fuming just typing this) So, I located and purchased an entirely new PAC adapter, took the car home, unloaded the kids, and tore in to the installation. While I was in there, I found a handful of "nipped" wires and potential shorts. I got those repaired, and completely re-installed the new adapter. Turned on the car, and everything was working perfectly. Knock on wood, but it's been a week and all the sensors work, headphones work, steering wheel controls work perfect, no more random shut-offs of the unit. Life is good again. The only complaint is the blinker sounds aren't loud enough, but who cares.

Of course the installation shop isn't taking any of the blame and saying I screwed something up, yada yada. They wouldn't return the adapter they installed, said the best they could do is exchange it for a new one. Simply a bunch of horse manure. They are a reputable shop around here too, and have horrible service. I surely learned not to trust anyone but myself. Through this all, I now feel like I am an 07' Tahoe specialist.

What a horror story... I would love to have an 07 Tahoe, but these things I'm scared of, because now with these newer cars, installing an aftermarket head unit, or DVD unit, is so ****ed hard, you have to bypass like 1 million things, and you don't want to ruin the functionality of the car.

I would add two more of the same subs and look at selling the 2k to go towards the funds of a decent 5-8k mono amplifier and new enclosure
