1997-2003 Grand Prix

Has anyone with a sixth-gen Grand Prix (97-03) ever tried fitting 6.5" speakers in the FACTORY front door location with 5 1/4" openings? Or should I just buy q logic kick panels and throw the 6.5" in there?

Yes. You can use a 5.25" to 6.5" adapter to fit them. I just left mine OEM and put 5.25".

If it were that simple, I would have tried that..hence the reason for the thread. Maybe I should be more specific. Will the 6.5" clear the door panel? (6th gen GP owners know what I mean)

You have to modify the doors and use a thi ABS plastic to fit them.

Would there be any harm in using the stock plastic speaker bracket? I have a 01, I'm looking to fit some 6.5's as well. I had 6.5" Rev's but they're slightly smaller then the ones i want to get now.
