is there any real benefit of running two 6volt batts @ 12volts ? the batts i will be running are c&d technologies ups6-620. there 75 pounds a piece and 200ah . thanks
But there's half as many of them in a single battery. Now going with two 6V batts, you do get added surface area on the plates, but you're adding weight and taking up more space when you could get a pair of 100ah 12V batts to do the same thing. It all evens out in the end, it just comes down to series vs parallel wiring. The individual cells in a 6Volt battery are twice as large as the individual cells in the same overall sized 12 volt battery. These 2V cells in the 6V have twice the plate surface area, and twice the electrolyte.
That's a good deal, provided that they aren't very old. You're basically getting a 200ah 12V batt for $100. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gifi paid 100 bucks a pair i could not find any 12v c&d batts for cheap in phx
