All, I have an older 8ohm RF 10" sub. This sub is rated at 200RMS at 8ohm. What size amp will I need to handle this. Looking for quality but price conscious amp. This is for my daughter looking to just add mono block amp to handle one 10" in a box in trunk. Not sure on size because of speaker being 8ohm. Hoping to get under $100 amp for her but nothing that is total crap.

Thanks

Edit: adding additional data.

I actually have two of the same subs. Would I be better to wire both to lower the ohm down to 4. Still the question exist what amp size to adequately power both subs then. The subs are RF RFP-1810.

if u have 2 8 ohm subs yes 4 ohms is lots better either way u better off to go with a 2 channel amp bridged in this case, cheapest mono amp i'd recomend is ppi 1k like mine tested at 690rms @4 ohm so may do like 300-350 at 4 ohm it's decent amp but it's $159 or so.. u in the only situation that i recomend 2 channel fir sub and even low end at that., or if u lived here u could come try my autotek 1600 (probably does 200rms @ 4ohm maybe) u can get those about $79.. i can find u something (i do love to shop) but with that weird ohm man u maybe better to get a cheap package deal like ct sounds 12 and amp and box for $150., other pacages like that ain't bad for kid as long as u set gain low and tell them not to mess with amp.. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3WW0UA/ref=twister_B01N7G2R1J?_encoding=UTF8&th=1

read my last reply ppi 600.2 is about $117 4 ohm should do 300rms or 600 if u use both subs i'd do that and if u ever get other new 4ohm dvc subs wire each to 8 ohm and bridge this to them same way (1 guy here with like probably $8-10k system has 4 of these in his truck)

Yes you'll be far better at 4 ohm assuming you have the space for the two subs in a proper box. I hate to say it but you may just do better dropping 100$ into a modern woofer and working around that, you could keep the 8 ohm subs and use them for a home theater sub project or something. Virtually every amp you'll buy today, particularly on a budget just won't make squat for power into 4 ohms much less 8. Even trying to get good power into 2 ohm isn't budget friendly territory and limits your options.

yeah u can get sundown E 12 d4 wired to 2ohm bstock for $95 get amp like mine ppi p1k $159 get 930 rms to it or get d2 wired to 4 ohm and get ppi p600.2 $117 600rms to sub if u put it in ported box i promise it'll be enough bass for her..

Yes. Only thing is the leads will be encased in resin. Keep in mind that this is an assumption.

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.
