After hearing mixed reviews on the DA175 (why you research before you buy! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/furious.gif.fc81ca146dbff91fede3ed290dbc4f4c.gif), I decided to go with a pair of Dayton RS180 7" midbass drivers, for my active set up (will be matched with Blaupunkt VC100 tweeters).

Where do you have yours crossed at? What's the good, the bad, and the ugly? I haven't heard one bad thing about them yet, nothing but rave reviews. For the price I couldn't pass them up. They're HUGE, but I already hacked up my door panels anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well....

sounds like a bad idea.

using them up to 2k is pushing it from what i have read.

why not look into the id oem's or the mach 5 mli's? 2 very good budget choices that can be run up to a decent frequency for a 2 way.

also from what i have read, the vc100's are best crossed at 3k or higher.

I had my VC's crossed at 2500 and they sounded beautiful.

I read tons of reviews on the RS180's, the majority crossing them at 1800-2500 (18 db or 24 db slope to avoid break up) and having no issues (crossed at 80hz with 18 db slope for the low end).

just curious as to why you haven't considered the mach 5 mli's or the id oem's?
Heard mixed reviews about both. I've read nothing but good about the Daytons, plus I want to be different. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I plan to, I’m just wondering about the power difference. 160 watts to maybe 70. I’m hoping it’ll still be strong enough for my sub stage.
