amp turn on cable

My amplifier needs a new remote turn on cable, I'm trying to avoid having to buy a whole new kit just to get a remote turn on cable. Is there a type of wire that i can just pick up from the local hardware store and use?

any help would be great

20-25ft of 14-16gauge wire color of your choice

just get some speaker wire from radioshack and that should be good.
