Is there any reason to make a sealed box larger (or smaller) then manufacturer specs?

I've heard that some Manufactuers recomend smaller boxes to protect thier warrenty. Any truth to this???

Will subs proform better (or the same with less power) in slightly larger boxes??

well the box size does effect the power handling of the sub. the bigger the box, the less power it can handle (no matter what the rms of the sub says, it will be lower in a huge box)

the smaller, the better the power handling. so basically they do do it for the warranty, and to protect the subs

X2 thats what ive been doing, been through 3 boxes already //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

You could always start larger then add small pieces of wood to take up some space if you don't like the sound.
