Got a refurbished amp installed and all was well until I turned the car off and the amp stayed on in protect mode.

I've checked my wiring enough to make my head spin and the remote is wired correct. I've never had this problem with any of my installs so I'm certain it's the amp.... Or is it?

If you have a multimeter (if you don't, get one), test for voltage at the remote wire. Place the red probe at the end of the remote wire with the car off. Place the other probe at a ground (the ground for you amp would work). If it was working correctly it should be close to 0. Without the remote power from the HU or LOC the amp should be turning off. If there is one, it's a wiring issue outside the amp.

If you have stray strands from the power wire going elsewhere that could create all kinds of issues. If it touches the remote wire it'll act like that remote signal. If it touches anything else it could go into protect. Same goes for stray strands at the speaker cables. If all that checks out try taking out the remote wire (it should definitely shut off now at least). If it doesn't do that then there's definitely something wrong with it.

I'm not super well versed in troubleshooting amps, but just some things to try.
