All chevy small blocks( pre lsxx) are identical externally, outside of some difference in casting numbers on the sides.

i really don't care. i'm a ford guy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
I used to do the whole ford/dodge/gm drama.. then I realized, as long as it's american, Im happy.

you said 305 which is the least matching one.i assumed you ment 350.
your a fool for trying to tell me what i know.i have been working on those cars since i was old enough to walk.ive also been a well paid mechanic for 20 years.i can be wrong just like everybody else but im usually right //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
YOU tried to tell ME what i know, get it right. And i called BS, just admit that an Olds 403 is not a Pontiac, it's all good, lol.

The olds 403 shares nothing with a pontiac motor outside of the bolt pattern, and the carb, and accesories( which were shared across all gm anyway). Heck, if I wanted to put a Pontiac motor in my TA, I would even have to change the motor mounts out,, as they don't fit either.

bare block to bare block they are the same as long as from the same year.small blocks are a different animal
If you can get pontiac parts(crank, rods etc) to fit in an olds 403, you are some kind of genius, and Ill sell you to the circus or something.

crank yes, rods and pistons make a difference because of bore and stroke and valve clearence.you can "make" anyhing work in a machine shop though
I'm not talking about machine shopping anything. There is no way any pontiac crank, rods, especially pistons will drop in an olds 403. Journal spacing is different, along with sizing. You may as well say " I can make my Mitsubishi parts fit a 403 with a machine shop at hand"

B/O/P do share many things. But they are NOT the same, if they were, a 403 would be called a Buick Oldsmobile Pontiac 403. The fact is(look it up) that it is an Olds 403. That is not that hard to understand..........is it?

he's trying to skate all around it

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
