Cutting threaded rod.

I got a 7/16" think peice of threaded rod I need to cut. It's made of zinc, what do you think would be a good tool to use for cutting it? Hand saw or jig saw? Or do you think that would cut up my blade?

hack saw or a bi metal jigsaw blade.

Alright thanks guys. My dad had a metal cutting jig saw blade. Zinc is a soft metal, should be fine

made of zinc?....... you sure it's not just grade3;5;8 zinc plated(galvanized)?... and it's "porta-band"..... any normall metal cutter, like a cutting wheel on a grinder/die grinder, or metal saw. if it's zinc, you could probably even use a knife, lol.

Hack saw works fine. Just don't touch it when you're done cutting it cause you will burn yourself lol

Yeah my bad it's zinc plated lol. It's made of the same material as screws lol.

Can't really tighten up or reuse dowels though, plus threaded rod is a good bit smaller than dowels so it uses up less air space

gotta use big enough though otherwise I have heard that some people have problems with them resonating.

This is why I went middle ground. Wasn't gonna pay 12 bucks for 36" of 3/4" threaded rod. Settled with 7/16" thick for 4 bucks a piece. Can't beat it.

I use 1/2 no need for 3/4
