You missed CDT, Hertz, Hybrid Audio Technologies, Dynaudio and Linear Power. Critical Mass is the rave amongst hoopsters, rappers, and the cream of the crop, but I have never demoed their products.

you are right regarding hertz. they are good for SQ and SPL also. think the author of that post omitted this brand

IMO, the best ones are Linear Power and Dynaudio. Linear Power bought Blues Audio and kept making the speakers without skimping. The results are awesome.

If we are talking the best most those brand wouldn't make the top 10 only 2 I would consider High end would be Morel and Focal. Some select models from a couple brands Like JL's Zr800 8" MB is still touted as one of the best 8" MB ever and JBL has had a few nice sets as well..

If were talking best stuff you can get at big box stores the list may hold some water.

JBL and Polk Audio have been around for a very long time and still make great speakers for the entry to mid level installs for a buyers market. ID was mentioned. I have and do run a few component sets. MB has slacked off in the recent years and offer min. mid level grade.Boston Acoustics has leaned more towards Home Audio rather than Car audio in recent years,and offer very few options for car audio, Diamond Audio has gotten really expensive over the years as well as few options but really good stuff.

Dynaudio is really nice gear. Ive heard quite a few SQ systems with installs and sound really nice and clean.Of course, those guys go above and beyond to prep theyre doors and vehicles that really make them shine. I havent bought any Linear Power since like 99. I couldnt verify the performance of them now.

Not sure why RF, Kenwood, Boss, Kick or JBL are on there. JBL didn't have a high end offering the last time I checked their website.
