Hello all. First off, I have searched for hours for a solution, but I failed to get anywhere. He is my issue: I am getting noise from all of my speakers, even when the RCA's on the amp side are disconnected. It's a lo but audible buzz. I have a small Clarion amp, the compact one. It doesn't have a gain adjustment so I can't tune it down. I have tried 2 different grounding location, both I scrapped to the paint. The entire system is new, down to the speaker wires.

If it helps, it's a '12 Acura TL.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I must be old... What amp doesn't have a gain control? What is the model number?

2nd, if that amplifier is controlling ALL speakers and you disconnect the signal cables going into it and it's still got noise, it's the amplifier.

Try grounding the heatsink to ground and see what happens.

Yeah, I was at a loss when I got it]and noticed I couldn't manually control the gain. It does have a high/low switch setting for high level input and low level (RCA). I have it set on low for the RCA input.

It is the Clarion xc1410. It's the first 'mini' compact amp they made. I will try to ground the heat-sink frame and see what happens.

Thanks for your quick reply.

it's basically the same thing alpine made for their head units. i don't think they had gain adjust either. i believe a lot of little amps like this were made in the 70's and 80's, mostly to upgrade from single speaker stereos.... and didn't usually have a gain adjust, unless you got one of those with the eq on the front, that were still often sold into the 90's

Re: Help with amp issue
Interesting. Also the worlds 1st amp w/o a gain knob....nice.

If it's possible, ditch that amp and get something else.
oh, and from where did you pull power?

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M

That is correct. I like these as they are twisted pair and the RCA ends are thick and grip quite nicely...
