i got 2 type r 1242d (4ohm) subs

and the wiring on the manual is pretty weird

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Man...500SWR1242.PDF

is this configuration really better?

and what exactly do the jumper cables do?

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/..._4-ohm_2ch.jpg

i also found this wiring config.

http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/ca/...4-ohm_mono.jpg

so which one should i use thanks

im thinking the alpine manual was using a mono amp ?

but i got a 2 channel amp

i know i have the samethin posted but i think the title change will draw more answers

Hi the links you posted dont seem to work, but you want to send a mono signal to your subs so i dont know what amp you have but i presume you can bridge it.

You can wire to 4ohms or 1ohm depending on what you amp specs are.

Try going to a website like crutchfield.com to use the wiring wizard to see how to correctly wire your subs.

those are the three diagrams im confused about

idk which to use

i have a wack ass boss 2 channel amp

im saving for an upgrade

but i want to set it up as good for now

cuz i dont make much money

Best will depend on a lot of factors, your amp, charging system, your ears, your enclosure, crossover freq, your car acoustics,....what I can say is this if you want to optimize your amp performance you can bridge the amp and run the subs in series with each sub wired in parallel so that your amp will see a 4ohm load.

wait doesnt 2 ohm mono = 1 ohm stereo so both of our setups would be the same?
each sub in parallel = 2ohm sub, 2ohm sub

when the subs are wired in series you add the resistance 2+2=4ohm

when you bridge a 2 channel you get a mono amp but that does not increase or decrease the ohm load that is presented to the amplifier.

so how can i bridge my 2 channel amp and get 2 ohms out of it with the type rs

im guessing 2 ohms will give the most power

the audioque 1200 d is stable to to 1 ohm

so ican do that to right, without harming my amp or subs

these are the specs..

what about wiring to 1 0hm

also i just read this whcih is saying 8 ohm is better

the lower the final impedance (ohms) at the amp the lower the sound quality but the easier/cheaper it is to power

most amps are not stable below 2ohms so they would run hot and go into protection a lot

one DVC 4ohm sub can give you impedances of 2 or 8ohms at the amp

one 2ohm DVC sub can give you impedances or 1 or 4ohms at the amp

an 8ohm final impedance at the amp will give you better sound quality than 4ohms but it will cost about twice as much and you wont really be able to tell because most of your sound quality should come from your inside speakers

the AVIC was a tad more complicated to wire not to mention stuffing it in a smallish stereo hole. thanks for advice.

Drill a hole and use the proper protective split loom and hole grommets to keep the outer speaker jacket from knicks and cuts, give just enough...

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
