I tore the foam on one of my subs sometime in the last week.

The subs are 10" MTX Thunder 5000's from 2003, BUT... they only have one year of use on them 2011-12.

The foam on one tore 1/3 of the way around and the other is just starting to tear.

These subs are fed their full 250W RMS each and have painted fiber cones... They were not excessively abused and both speaker cones move freely with no noises...

Gains were set by a shop.

Realistically, will refoam kits work for these or would I be better to just replace them?

you can try to glue it, but 1/3 of the way around is a pretty good tear

repair the other before it gets too bad

there gone man dry rot took that over, just move on buy some new ones, but now you have a reason to go bigger!

Only Thunder 5000s I have seen all had rubber surrounds and the only MTXs I have seen with a foam surround are the old Roadthunders with the red baskets.

You could refoam them. But there are much better options out now, if you wanted to upgrade.

My earlier research indicated that the loaded box is model MTX T5210 which should have 5000's

These are the subs... and they now have an Alpine MRP-M500 powering them.

Ohhh nvm I was thinking of 5500s, Theres a big difference there, I just looked at some old pics I had of my 5500s.
