How hard is it, to buy a drop in recone kit and glue it in? Ive seen some videos and the only thing I think id have trouble with is the spacer things with the voicecoil. any tips?

i fix subs and rebuild them not hard specially if you have recon kit take a peice of paper roll it put around the magnet inside glue your basket were the refoam goes place your kit inside remove the folded paper in the cone put your dust cap on glue that down use a peice of tape to put the dust cap on so you can center it glue will have to cure for several hours but speed up the process with heat gun. then u need to solder your wires to the pos and neg terminals hopefully this helps you.

All ya do is drop the recone in, place a shim inside the voice coil, glue everything down, then remove shim, glue the dustcap down and solder the terminals. Did a recone on an 18 in no time my first try. Came out perfect. Really easy as long as you get it all lined up with a proper shim.

The shim keeps the coil aligned in the gap. It needs to be thick enough to hold the coil away from the center, but still be able to remove it easily. Basically thick enough where you dont have to force it in/out. I believe there is a tutorial stickied in the subwoofer section that will help you get the idea.
