I recently installed a JL Audio 12w3v2 along with a JL Audio 300/2 amp in my wife's Navigator. I couldn't pass up on the deal from eBay.

The output sounds decent. Although, some songs sound better than others. I may get an Epicenter or Bass Cube in the future. I may even try a ported box. This sub came in a sealed box.

Anyway, right now I have the 300/2 bridged @ 4-ohm. The sub seems to be taking it with ease.

Should I swap to a JL Audio 500/1 or even the 250/1 amp?

Again, I may go with a ported box but right now, would I notice an audible difference in swapping the 300/2 that I have now to a 500/1 or even a 250/1?

A ported box would probably give more output than switching to a 500.1 Don't bother with a 250.1 it puts out less than the 300.2 bridged. If you want a dramatic difference, switch to ported and the 500.1. But the 300.2 and ported would be much louder than your current setup.

Well except for the fact that the 250/1 is designed for sub duty and the 300/2 isn't hardly...
So are you suggesting that the 250/1 would be better than the 300/2?

Thats why they have these wonderful things called crossovers! Ive used full range amps as bass amps many times.

I have too, that doesn't make it better for the job, though. Bridged @ 4ohm Class A/B vs 4 ohm single channel limited bandwidth Class D, which runs cooler? You're also talking a difference in power of well less than 1dB. I'd take the little mono amp all day and move the other to my front stage.

I think I will go ported and then get a 500/1. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
