I have a 96' dodge neon and i replaced the deck and speakers but i didnt replace the wire from the deck to the speakers. I have to put the deck up to about 25-27 to get it loud, is that normal? If i replace the wire do you think it would be louder at all? The stock wire is pretty small skinny stuff.

Deck- Alpine CDA-9851

Speakers- Alpine SPS-170A

I dont think that the wire will cause that much of a difference...If you really want to be able to have loud speakers at lower volumes, get an amp.

are the settings on the HU right?

EQ all set to zero

also check and see if you have a LOUD buttn on your radio... you add that and it gets louder at lower volumes...... prolly distorts your signal, but it will make volume 15 like 30 is now....

the AVIC was a tad more complicated to wire not to mention stuffing it in a smallish stereo hole. thanks for advice.

Drill a hole and use the proper protective split loom and hole grommets to keep the outer speaker jacket from knicks and cuts, give just enough...

It mostly comes down to weight. You can have a super lightweight cone, soft suspension and aluminum coil on a sub and you pretty much get a pro...
