SX's vs. HDC3-A's

i wouldn't know, they are both daily rated at 1000 wrms.

It is very very very conservatively rated.. Will take 2k+ all day every day. These woofers arent comparible at all.

They do fine with 1kw each, just much more capable as far as power is concerned.. Unless the sx is substantially cheaper, I see no point in getting it.

same price point....and i've heard the SX's are extremely underrated as well

Eh, the sx's are decent. These woofers are not in the same class though..

I would definately go with the HDC3.. I use to own SXs and WISHED i had saved up and got HDC3 (at the time HD3).. In fact, If Ididn have so much sunk into my 9515 and box, I would run 2 HDC3 12s

the copper ones are more efficient than the aluminums. i can't speak on how well they'd do on 1kw each, i wont have mine installed for a couple more weeks.

in jacob's testing with the aqs, was using 2000 or 2500 watts per sub, and said the aluminums were slightly louder at that power point. thats right about the coppers limit though, 2500ish. the aluminums can take well over 3k.

I have been running my 18 with 1200 watts so far, and the output is tremendous. They do fine off 1kw+

I did a 143.7 with 1 AQ HD3c 12 with copper coils clamped at less than 500 watts by DBSteve in Midwest SPL. I jumped up into the next class and did a 144.8 at 800ish watts (same guy clamping) with the same sub, same box, same show. The box was far from an SPL box. It was basically an AQ spec box in my explorer, although I tuned it slightly lower (35ish on the tuning). how would 1 hdc3 15 copper coil handle an AQ2200 @ 1ohm?

then in the future, possibly get another whole set like that.

so one day run 2 hdc3 15's (copper) on 2 AQ2200 @ 2ohms (daisy chained)
