It works really well.

Tell BT to stop being a dick and send it back.
lol i left him a voice mail. he should get back to me. and yes, that is exactly what i meant //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

im going to burn that CD tonight and do it!!!

but yea. thats basically the idea. TA is so hard to do by ear //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yes, you built these pods of mine... that has a leak.

T/A isn't that difficult by ear. I would say EQ is.

Here's what E Stevens recommended for T/A: (works like a charm)

before using the TA to bring up height reverse polarity/phase of both horns together to see if it raises the stage.
So in this order

- put one side out of phase Horn and midbass driver

- listen and try reversing both horns polarity phase to lift sound stage

- balance left

- t/a left mid only until it lifts up as high as possible then mirror that setting to other side

- then balance center

- t/a left horn and mid together until it shifts center no more than .5 millisecond

- EQ left and right separately as the lower midrange / upper mid bass area 160 to 400 hz range can really lower our stage height. If you dont have an RTA try these settings 125 - 3dB 160 -9dB 200 -6dB 250 -6dB 320 -3dB and see if it is better tonally and stage height wise.

im gonna burn some music and give it a try //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

thanks james!

I've done everything Stevens suggest except RTAing both sides separately. That'll come soon enough. I've also done the left/right EQing for the center image.

As of now, I've never had such a high stage and center focus. Tonality needs work.

Too bad you're a lame easterner. You could've joined in on all the DIYma meets we've been having.

yea too bad huh. i could have been stationed in san diego. then id of been able to chill with yall.

ill see what i can do after work today about getting that file sharing crap.

im running horns and midbass. since the horns can not play down to 300hz (id like that tho) i have the midbass playing to 1khz @ 18db\oct and i have the horns playing from 1khz+@24db\oct
so i get quite a bit of midrange from them and i hated the fact that they were like 60 degrees off axis on the left and maybe 40 off axis on the right.

so yea, it brought the low midrange up high. it was weird because most of the vocals and stuff would be up on the dash with the horns, but when the mids would start kicking in with bass guitar riffs or some tom's or maybe a male voice it would be at maybe the height of the headunit - or pulling way toward the speaker.

now there are a few songs that pull down but i think that is mostly due to the recording or MP3 compression as thats really all i have to play around with besides a IASCA disc - which sounds awesome. so i need to get some more listening material ASAP.

That would explain it. Had me wondering wtf you had going on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

So how does the AP enclosure sound different then just IB mounting (or however you have tried in the past)? After reading the article, are you truly sacrificing SPL for sq from it?
well he might be sacrificing spl, but he is gaining efficiency //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

gains efficency and some power handeling too. i have 250x2 for these suckers. so i have TONS of headroom.

basically im not totally sure how the FR is effected by the AP, i wanted to do this more of an expierement, i can just remove the membrane if i want to go back to IB, but so far it seems like i am getting much more midbass and better control of the cone because there is less excursion.

maybe ill RTA the speaker with the membrane in, and then out, and see what kind of differences the enclosure exibits. that would be a cool expierement.

when i get to vynl, i plan on using contact cement and a vaccume bag to keep the pressure on the vynl so it has better adhesion //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ill take pics of that whole process too!!!

here is a quick system diagram i threw together just now

i have had success running cd2 comp down to 550 hz

I cross my cd1 pro mhs at 1100 hz 24db slope (run xs65 mids with them) and a boston tweeter mounted up very high just to pull the stage up from 8k hz on up.

this stuff looks nice- but it does look like you infringed on the seating per the images

Dynaudio is good stuff. I wouldn't want to pull that out, because of an amp if you like what you have. Don't know the differences in the two...
