what is a crossover? i already got my amp, sub, and head unit ordered and it should be coming in 1 week.

somebody tells me i need a crossover. what for? do i REALLY need it? what's it's purpose?

hey,

a crossover unit, it's simple. It is a series of capasitors and resitors that limits the sound freqancys to the sub woofers. Sub woofers are only entendted to play sound within there frequancey range. If a crossover is not used, then the sub is playing the enitre range of frequanceys pumped by the amp. Playing your subs without the use of a crossover is not recommended. I tried it before and it messed up one of my subs. It cracks during certain high bass tunes. I also work at a car audio shop and i'd be able to get one for you if you wish.

just give me a shout at jonathant83@hotmail.com

hope this all helps you out.
