What receiver for home audio/theator?

Im looking to buy a new receiver fairly soon. I get sony and yamaha receivers close to cost due to a new vendor at my work. What would you guys suggest? Id like something that has Ipod compatability and id like a sub channel(at least outputs so i can run an external amp). I am a newbie to home audio so any help is much appreciated.

Not necessarily. What would multi channel be used for? I just need left, right and sub. Id like to use a yamaha or a sony if possible because i get a great deal on them

that is the setup i have. its 2.1. I used a yamaha, HK, and onkyo. the Yamaha was nice. alot of 2 channel receivers have a sub output now

just go on the website and look at stereo receivers. make sure they have a sub output and other features you want. I do suggest getting a 5.1 channel receiver so you have the extra chennels if you decide to do more than left,right and sub

Ill check them out. I just didnt knwo if there was a certain model that was better than another or something.

Ok well i guess im between the V463 and v465. I dont need 7 channels. Its pretty much just going to be for audio, not a whole lot of video so it doesnt need to be fancy.
