i just did mine the other day too...

2002 ranger...

easy as cake

popped teh old grill out...(tabs)

screwed the new one in

put the shell back on...EASY!!!

i do all the mods to my truck....ALL OF THEM!!!! MUHAHAHA

 
As you can see, it varies from car to car.

Some just pop right in others you need to spend 5hrs getting them to fit.

Looks like yours was the latter...hehehe
