Just a heads up, only 5th gen ipods and 1st gen nanos connect to the ida x001 via usb. All other ipods that will work with it need the special full speed cable and I doubt that is digital. Regular usb drives obviously work via the usb though. It reallly sounds even better than I thought it would.
You will love the unit. I just installed it and replaced a cda9833. I was going to buy an eq for the 9833 but hated its inability to controlle the ipod properly. The IDAx001 sounds a million times better, and I am no longer going to install an eq. It sounds that good...and I don't even know...
The Alpine IDA-X001 is a great unit with a usb connection. There is no cd though. I have used to connect my ipod via the usb and it is fantastic, but I haven't tried straight usb drives, although they are supposed to work with it.
Well even Don, said it was a pain in the ass trying to eq my cda 9833, i want knobs that i can turn. I dont care if it has 3 knobs that say bass, mid and treble, 7 knobs, or 1 giant one that says tone!
I am looking for an external half space eq and a sub. My alpine hu is too complicated EQ wise and I want something with some knobs that i can turn while driving to adjust the eq. I was looking at the Arc Audio KEQ5 or whatever it is called. For a sub i am thinking 10" as I am going for sound...
Don has my shipment of Rainbow SLC 3way, and an arc 5150 waiting. It isn't installed but I can't wait to hear it...it supposed to be amazing and the speakers aren't that much. the 2 way comps are only $220
