Convert CD to digital drive

You can rip a CD on to a computer, and then transfer the music files on to a flash drive. I haven’t done it in a while, but was fairly simple to do on Windows as long as the PC has a disc drive, which also seems less common on modern computers.

You need to know what type of music files the head unit can play, WAV, mp3 ???

You also need to make sure it can play music files from the flash drive.

Might be time consuming if you have a lot of CDs, and navigating through the songs / folders via the head unit can be slow. Possibly better with modern head unit vs older, I know my cheaper older one was a pain to find a song.

Windows media player could rip a cd in 2004.

I don't know what your time is worth, but for me it's more practical to get a subscription that offers unlimited access and downloads. I use youtube music.

Agreed. I've stopped ripping CDs, even though I have another ~300 that I haven't ripped yet. I have a subscription to LiveX, which is one of the cheaper ones, IIRC, $45/year.

There are still a few people that I know still use the good old Ipods for music and use the Aux port
My car's stock HU doesn't have USB but it does have an Aux port. I plug an MP3 player into it.

Ripping... of course. Haven't done that in 15 years. Thanks guys.

A quick check of an audio CD shows .cda files. I wonder if you can "rip" the other way and turn MP3's into something that plays on a CD drive?

Pretty much any cd burning program will have an option to burn music cds. In the Napster days I burnt a lot of mp3 to music cds to play in my car 🤣

I love cd hunting so I still rip fairly often 😂
There was this place called Second Spin by me old house and they had great deals on CDs, especially used. I used to spend a few hours a week hunting for CDs in there. They had a nice return policy too - full credit for the CD for ~1 week; used that return a NickleBack CD. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: That was a good policy considering you could rip a copy of the CD and bring it back. They also had 6 listening stations set up if you wanted to check out the CD before buying. Probably buying~10 CDs a month until that place closed.:cool::cool:
