2 Channel Receivers?

I am going to do a simple two channel setup. I am not really interested in HT, sorround etc. In fact, I will most likely not even have a CD player. I am just going to run off of an Ipod. The only feature that I know I want at this point is to be able to run a 2nd zone.

So, my questions are:

In the world of entry level receivers, is there one out there that is known for being an overachiever?

About the only brand names for such receivers that I have looked at are Onkyo, Yamaha and Denon. Yep, I have been perusing Crutchfield. Any of these stand out as being generally better than the others? Any that I should stay away from?

Not bad. I figure that if I screw up on this purchase I can always use it to run a pair of bookshelves in my office.

i ran some 8 inch paradigms with it,now i even run a pair of dual 8 inch klipsch towers with the hk

I saw a pair of those towers the other day, very nice looking.

the hk and a Marantz were the only 2 channel receivers i could find with a sub output if that matters to you,that was a couple years ago.

Actually, my current plans are to avoid adding a sub.

no sub is necessary,just nice to know you dont need a 5.1 channel for sub capability. i love the klipsch rf-82's i have 4 of them,great for movies

Hmmm, do they come in an integrated amp?
