i have had both the eclipse 8454 and the alpine 9830 in my boat. i didnt expect the two to sound that much different from each other but man was i wrong. the eclipse has a much cleaner sound with crisp highs and the alpine has a much deeper more full sound. i kind of became used to the eclipses sound cause i have had them for a decade or so. any alpine users out there that have any experience with this deck that can guide me in the right direction to acheive the sound i want? your advice is greatly appreciated.

i was thinking about the new arc 7 band eq with the sub volume control. it is supposed to be at our local shops soon
ooohhh.......my brother is interested in that one as well for his Eclipse 3434.....will check into prices.......

Well it retails for about 600 so you would pay like 650 with tax at a store (unless you have no tax in your state) This is one of the few options you have since this cd player is not authorized for sale online. You may be able to find it somewhere online for slightly less maybe 550 shipped. Or it goes for 400-500 used.

I would take an Eclipse over Alpine. I can't explain why that alpine had a "fuller" sound than the Eclipse unless the eq/processing adjustments were made on one and not the other.

I actually took it as him saying the eclipse sounded better and he wanted to get the Alpine to sound like the Eclipse

Is the Alpine 9830 very different from the Alpine 9833 or are they pretty similar? I ask this because I have the same question.

I'm going to be getting a new deck in my Honda Accord and I don't know much about car audio, but people have told me to get the Eclipse 8454 and one person told me to get the Alpine 9833.

Do you think this is basically the same situation as what is being discussed in this thread, and that I should go with the Eclipse 8454?
