Alpine Type R box

For a Type R I'd definitely run it ported. I'd give a 10" about 1.5^3 tuned around 32-36. They're ok sealed but you're not going to see the output you would running it ported.

I've heard 2 in a Chevy Malibu sealed and dude was metering at 142 or something like that off 1K. For sealed in that car it was loud. Honestly best I've heard from Alpine.

This makes me curious...

I've got two Alpine Type R 8's in my SRT4 Neon...

They just don't seem that loud... they are in small 0.30ft^3 boxes. I believe they should probably be in ported boxes? Suggestions?

what size were they? 12 inch the type rs i had back then Hit the lows very nice and clean on 1600 rms in a 1.2 cube each chamber sealed box but i dont think its was over 140... could be just vehicle acoustics this was in a corolla.

yeah I think that 142 was pure luck. I have two type r 15's...granted they are only on about 800rms I dont think they hit anywhere near 142. Im going to the local shop next weekend and they are gonna meter my car if this thread is still alive ill post my scores.

This was at finals in Cali back in 12. No joke 142 on 2 12's

Wasn't luck, he was part of Team Bass Drop

i must say those 2012 latest generation alpine type r's are the best they have ever made. they get REALLY **** loud and pound hard as hell and sound great doing it. i had two of the 10 inch SWR-10d4 but i just sold them like a month ago and bought 1 12 inch SSA XCON sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i had a single type R ported that metered at 141 db playing music. won a bassrace with that sub. not many subs in that price range that are better than a type R. 2.2 @ 35 hz is what i had mine in.

I would just go with a ported box tuned from 32 hz. - 35 hz.

On a sealed sub box if I faced the subs up, I lost quite a bit of bass. Faced them forward, they worked great. On a ported box with subs and...
