whats up guys? Thought I'd post a basic run down on a build I'm doing in my 96 escort lx 2 door, nothing too crazy, the setup layout will consist of:
Deck: Alpine CDA-9833 (waiting to purchase)
Front Speakers: 4" Morel Dotech MKll Components
Rear Speakers: 4" Treo Coaxials (waiting to purchase)
Front Speaker Amp: Rockford Fosgate T3002 2ch
Sub: 12" DC Audio Level 4 Dual 1 ohm
Box: 3.2 cu/ft Ported Box @ 29hz
Wire: 1/0 Welding Cable Power/Ground
The sub was orignally a 12" RD Audio Alpha V.1 dual 4, one of the coils fried so I got it reconed to a DC Audio Level 4 Dual 1.
I'm looking for an amp for the sub as of right now, I've got lots of great deals on here and on other local forums so I'm just taking them all in seeing what I think is best for me right now, but for the time being I'll be running the rockford fosgate t3002 @ 2 ohm, RF says it will be 300wrms @ 2 ohm bridged, the amp is very underated so I'm sure it will be a little more than that.
As for the box, its only temp for now - I'm looking to build up a decent low tuned daily box in the summer. And the speakers I got a really good local deal on, so I couldn't pass those up. If anyone has any experince with these let me know how they did for you.
Anyways, enough of the boring stuff, on with the pics!
I guess we'll start off with what its all going into, 96 Escort LX 2 door -
Now heres the sub before the recone, sitting as a RD Audio Alpha V.1 dual 4, with only one coil working
the spyder on the RD is no match to the dual stiff spyder on the DC
most of the soft parts removed
comparison of the coil
the coil that was in the RD Alpha V.1
slowly getting prepped for recone, tapped up the center of the magnet/motor so nothing gets stuck in there when the new coil goes in
fairly good size for a 12" don't you think?
heres the DC coil next to the RD coil, I'm sure its more than obvious which is which, lol the DC coil is also a tad bit longer
waiting to be one, lol
