budget build!w

Finally picked out the amp for the sub, its been a long hard challenge, but I think I picked a good one! Check back to this thread on February 4th or 5th to find out what it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Got my 1/0 inline fuse holder today. Havnt decided if I'm going to run a trunk battery yet or not

You may regret running speaker wire direct to the coil on that sub. I had some done up like that #8 wire from a tow truck jumber cable with a beefy quick connect plug. Had issues with lead slap and eventually the wire failed at the point where it came through the cone. Good for burps but normal wire just can't handle being flexed that much and over time will fail. ALSO when mine went the insulation got very hot where the connection was broken and arcing....probably a fire hazard.

Before I got this it was being burped with 10KW+, but failed after a month or so of daily playing with around 2K

not only were you using twice as much power as me, but your using thicker wire, I don't think I'll have any problems, my friend has been building subs like this for a while on daily setups and for SPL. With the 8 gauge it tends to be problematic he said.

got some 1/0 ring terminals today, should come in handy. Not sure if I got enough, or too little .. we'll see I guess.

I got this alt laying around, its oem for my car, used .. I was thinking of getting it rebuilt, friend of mine has a scort and had his rebuilt by a guy an hour or so away from me for no more then 200$ max and got 152A out of it. So this is a possibility.

good thing u found the manual. i deleted mine after the hu was sold.. basically keep touching it and you'll find out where things are at //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I'm pretty sure they are just ordinary clips for hanging clothes, etc.

Got the amp today, for those who are excited to know what it is!

I have morels up front, I want to try those, these powerbass comps are too big to fit in my doors anway don't feel like making temp plates and makin em work, if I really like them I'm going to get a set for up front (which I most likely will do haha)

got the rears in today, maybe next weekend if the weather is nice again I'll do the fronts, heres pics of todays progress

If those 2XL's sound anything like my old set of 3XL's you will be VERY happy with them. I gave my 100w RMS and the were smooth and were loud enough to keep up with anything!

BTW, I used 10 awg direct wire on 1800w RMS on my DMX sub build and the wire also failed where it connected to the tinsel leads.
