Components With Tweeters Mounted On The Mid

If you mount the tweeter on the mid (like you can with the Pro 60's), don't you loose what makes them better co-axils?
Or is the big difference the external crossover?

Anyone runnig PRO 60's with the tweeter mounted on the mid?
You just have to give it a try in your car. I have a truck with the Pr60's and have the tweeters in the dash. I tried them on the mid and it did have a wider stage and I like some things about it but it was really in your face sounding so I ended up with them on the dash in the stock location.

Every vehicle is different, but in general, you are not "losing" any benefit of having components when you mount the tweeter on the mid. In fact, you are gaining another method of installation, making it potentially much simpler and obviously more flexible.

I really like the way the Pro60s sound, but I've never tried the tweeter placed anywhere else.

Thanks for all the replies, really helped me out.

I think i'll pobably leave them on the mids for simplicity, plus its for a dodge truck and the speaker mounts are prtty high up.

thanks
