I picked up two sets of Kenwood KFC-1682ie's and when I got my door panel off, I noticed the stock speakers have an adapter with four wires (white, black, brown, yellow) and the new speakers only have two wires (blue/gray, gray).

I cut the adapter off the old speaker and attached the two white wires to the blue/gray and one of the black wires to the gray wire, but it is not loud at all compared to my stock speaker.

How do I install this?

Run new wire? You mean completely from the deck? I am a completely ignorant about this stuff, I was told it was basically plug-n-play.

Yeah, the original speaker had tweeters I could take out and they were individually wired. The new kenwoods have the tweeters wired inline. So, im not sure what to do with the other set of white/black. Either it has bass or treble it seems, and if I try running the white wires to the blue/gray it gets really soft.

white +

brown -

connect gray to white and gray/black to brown. Me sure to solder or crimp the connection, not just tape and wrap.

I have blue/grey for positive and gray for negative.

So attach the blue/grey to brown and grey to white, what about the yellow and black?

if blue/grey is positive connect it to white. and then gray to brown. (double check, tho. usually the solid color is + and the striped is -. the positive side is the wider terminal on the speaker while the negative is the skinny one)

the other wires are for the stock woofer. just tape'em off.
