I was searching for a 2 channel amp for my front stage and came across this.....

LANZAR MXA284 5000W 2-CHANNEL AMP CAR AMPLIFIER NEW - eBay (item 120630403152 end time Nov-04-10 13:31:13 PDT)

Thing has 140 amp of fusing and claims a total RMS power rating from 900 to 1300 watts bridged at 4 ohm. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif It has a subsonic filter and looks actually half way decent for 147 dollars.

Here are the ratings...

RMS Power Handling @ 4 Ohms: 300 watts x 2 (THD @ 4 Ohms: 450 watts x 2)

RMS Power Handling @ 2 Ohms: 450 watts x 2 (THD @ 2 Ohms: 650 watts x 2)

Assuming it does 900 watts RMS at 4 ohm bridged and is at least 45% efficient it should do rated power.

140 times 14.4 = 2016.

2016 times .45 = 907.2

Now lets assume it does 1300 watts RMS at 4 ohm bridged from the "THD" rating.

140 times 14.4 = 2016

2016 times .65 = 1310.4

This actually seems believable considering A/B amps are 50-70 percent efficient. Now granted the SQ and durability would be the main concern. This thing would give me amazing headroom and insane clipping free power for my front stage.

A fuse is a means of protection, not how much power it will allow/can putout. Some fuses will allow 2x their rated "blow" factor for a fraction of time. Some are slow blows and others are fast blow.

It's to late for me at the moment to find what ZED has posted on his site about fuses and possible power. I'm sure you are aware of this, but IDK you.

But the thing is, cheap amps like that cannot do their power without clipping...sure, maybe it will do 900rms, but it very well could start clipping around the 600 mark..Hifonics and Power Acoustics are fairly notorious for this, and new lanzar (other then Opti) are no better

# RMS Power Handling @ 4 Ohms: 300 watts x 2 (THD @ 4 Ohms: 450 watts x 2)

# RMS Power Handling @ 2 Ohms: 450 watts x 2 (THD @ 2 Ohms: 650 watts x 2)

???

The amp is cheap for a reason...

They polished it, why??? Doesn't look to bad, but if you're looking for a LANZAR amp, this line (from the '90s) and no others.

LANZAR OPTI 500/2500 OLD SCHOOL CLASSIC AMP...BEAST - eBay (item 280577058821 end time Oct-25-10 05:31:42 PDT)

It would also be easy to add an equalizer to have individual rca inputs for all of the channels. A decent one can be had for less than $40...
