I have a audiocontrol lc2i coming off of my factory head unit however i also have 2 bass amps, unfortunately im not able to strap them.

Is it okay to set the gain to max on both amps and then use the audiocontrol to set the gain for both amps? I dont want to clip my speakers awfully.

I tried this method already however the amps were almost 5ac volts off on a sine wave.

Any way to get these numbers a little closer?

you match gain by playing a 50Hz test tone and measuring output with a DMM on each amp. it doesn't have to be loud, just tweak gains until they are equal, but keep them around the proper setting for input voltage. i usually get them within 0.1 VAC if not closer.

never try to just match dial positions. never max the gains.

That's nothing but an annoyingly common phrase to try to sound smart. Don't say "gain is not a volume knob" until you can explain how it differs...
