Splitting RCA Input?

Hey everyone.. So I have a JVC KW-AV70bt. I have an iphone and want to utilize the app features with the iphone cable they sell. However, my wife has an android and the iphone cable would be taking up the only input.

Would there be any problems if I used a Y splitter on the RCA Inputs? (This way I can have both the Iphone cable, and a RCA to 3.5mm cable connected.)

I'm assuming this should be fine as I wouldn't be using both at once.. but just wanted to double check to avoid any possible issues.

I thought of doing this same thing with the last head unit I had,

never got to it but from what I read it didn't seem like there would be any problem

obviously as long as only one was being used at once.

That switch box seems like a handy thing to have, however.. I run my cabes from the HU to out the glove Dept so I can tuck em away in there later. Having the switch box visible would mean I'd either have to route my cords in the dash and back out, or have wires visibly hanging out of it. I guess I'll just go ahead and split it for now.

I'm not sure how bluetooth is on my unit yet as I haven't installed it yet, but I haven't had much luck with Bluetooth in the past. The quality is always hit or miss with tempo changes or quality drops. Tends to annoy me after a while and I think I'd be better off with just a direct feed.

Thanks.

That JVC is like the flagship, just like the avics to Pioneer, I would tap into the blue tooth first before trying to wire everything specially an android phone. the Iphone is good with the cable but the android will just give you audio anyways so no sense of doing rca wire when bluetooth is a better signal, there is a big controversy between bluetooth and direct rca feed and from what i read Bluetooth is better.

Yeah I think you might be right. even if it is lower quality..its for HER phone, so it shouldn't matter all that much. I'll try it out via bluetooth for now.

I actually caught a good deal on the unit, so having my old one stolen doesn't feel so bad anymore. Got it for $150 shipped on ebay. (not sure why no one else bidded..but hey..fine with me!)

That JVC you got is a very good unit and for that price its a steal. you might be surprised how clean it will sound when you connect the phone thru bluetooth and you can still control parial stuff from the head unit connecting by blue tooth like next song, or control pandora
