Subwoofer Just Doesn't Sound Good on Certain Freqs

So the other day, I traded on craigslist for a couple Kicker Comp 15s and an amp. (I know, not the most high dollar subs).

When I got them all hooked up, (using an aftermarket stereo and aux) they didn't really impress me. When they hit certain frequencys they just don't sound right, its kind of like a buzzing noise, but not really. Some frequencies sound good and impressive....but not others.

They came in a sealed box, I haven't messed with it at all.

Boss Diablo 1600 watt. 2 Channel. Not sure about the box. I think its the box they come in when you buy them with the box, but I'm not sure.

This is most likely the problem.

Yes, the amp isn't very good. Also if you have a prefab box the sound sometimes will be off. Both are easy fixes. Save up some. Try to sell the amp and box on craigslist. Buy a good amp, maybe even used here or craigslist. Learn how to build a good enclosure here.

yea thoses comps love huge ported boxes, id say somewhere near 6 cube ported for a pair, and no prfab will accommodate that, box is the reason for how your sub is playing.

also a lot of subs can be had for cheap that are a million times better

def go after the jbl or cadence amp first, but the box is most important in the freq problem
