nope im not joking, Overall I bet the SSD is a better driver then the Older SX was, and besides the XBL^2 motor and nuthugging the Q is a better more efficient driver then the older XXX could ever be.You joking, right?
I remember scott saying the dual motor SSD with flatwind coils was like the SX (original). Both these subs are under rated. I am not sure how much better the single magnet SSD is compared to the old one.
Of course it is more efficient, since the XBL^2 coil/motor design wasn't made to be loud. It was made to be provide very clean output over a larger amount of linear stroke. In your opinion, what makes the Q "better" besides efficiency?nope im not joking, Overall I bet the SSD is a better driver then the Older SX was, and besides the XBL^2 motor and nuthugging the Q is a better more efficient driver then the older XXX could ever be.
SSD>SX
Q>Older XXX
I've heard the 05 XXX in person, and I really can't imagine any sub sounding as good for how loud those things were. Sure the Q has the same intention, I just can't see a sub being better than the 05 XXX for $250.Of course it is more efficient, since the XBL^2 coil/motor design wasn't made to be loud. I did not review the soft parts, but most subs I have had experience with (groups of them, as in 10, 12, 15, etc.) are that way.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i have 6kw and i'm planning on swapping my hdcs for 4 sa-15s //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
lmao good sh*tSeeing as how it's the same motor and coil, probably not any more than the 10.
lmao, did u read the thread or did u just jump to my post and read it????
No, not unless it's using a different coil or motor.
I did not say "with the same coil and motor"lmao, did u read the thread or did u just jump to my post and read it?
some guy said an 18" with same coil and motor would take more power than the 10" version.
helo told him no.
i agreed with helo, then jokingling said idk... big subs adds power handling!
i wasnt bashing u or talking bad, u probably know more than i.I did not say "with the same coil and motor"
I assumed that the 18 would use different soft parts, which was obviously a poor assumption on my part. From what I have had experience with, the 12's, 15's and 18's of the same model line generally have upgraded soft parts over the 8's and 10's. I guess I haven't played around with enough subs...
oh alrighti wasnt bashing u or talking bad, u probably know more than i.
was just pointing out that he didnt read the few posts around mine, just singled me out lol
Even with different surround and spiders, the thermal power handling is determined by the coil and the motor. The only lines that I've seen that use the same coil and motor throughout the line that have an increase in power handling as the drivers get bigger all have aluminum cones which help dissipate heat.I assumed that the 18 would use different soft parts, which was obviously a poor assumption on my part. Hoffman's Iron Law teaches us that higher efficiency isn't always the positive benefit we tend to see it as in other situations besides speakers. And I'd choose efficiency over power handling.
