Word Choices: Head Unit Vs Deck Vs Stereo

Which do you think is best?

My cuz insists that it is a "deck"

My parents insists that it is a "stereo"

I tell them constantly that it is a "head unit"

deck, what like a deck of cards.

stereo, like not mono

deck I always think of a shaft mount tape player a stereo consists of an amp player and two speakers because if it is anymore or less then two speakers then it aint stereo, a headunit is a controller to the rest of your system, so it's a H-E-A-D-U-N-I-T

When I'm speaking with my friends it's usually "deck".

CD Player/MP3 Player or Head Unit would be the correct terminology.

You're car has a stereo, and some have 4 speakers (two in front and two in back). There is still only two signals, a Left and a Right (stereo).....adding or subtracting speakers isn't going to change that.

Stereo is short for stereophonic, which is a sound reproduction system that consists of two or more separate channels.
