My best practice is assuming that you have an automatic...go through the clutch cover plate. Since you would have no clutch, there would be a plate covering the factory hole.

Another possibility is that you have a small short in your power somewhere...possibly through the firewall...may be a small enough one that it wont blow any fuses but enough to drain your batt and charging sys.

You can get into your ignition harness and find the ACC wire. This is your main switched wire that should be about 12 AWG. just solder into that and run your wire to the amp as the new remote wire...the color of the wire can be found along with all other wiring color codes at directechs.com

You mentioned that you checked the 12V with your meter, did you check that you were getting 12 on your remotes and then did you check that your grounds are good...check these by doing a simple continuity test between your ground spots and the neg batt term.
