    Viper 5701

Not on a clifford 50.5x, which is what SourDeez had. On a 5701 (OP), correct. DEI units won't operate at all without the antenna plugged in.

    Compustar vs Prestige

There are plenty of cars that are more difficult than your run of the mill honda/toyota... a head unit is pretty basic compared to an alarm. Also quality of install is important...anyone can hack something in a dash, but longevity then comes into question

    Compustar vs Prestige

yeah the 5901 (and all equivalents) the delay is bad, I'll agree. its when they went to spread spectrum style tech. Even the predecessor 5900 series viper's had more delay. the 791xv was INSTANT, I love that unit, and still run these units to this day. Seems like Compustar fixed the issue...

    Compustar vs Prestige

not surprised... Ive ran compustars in the past and they are glitchy. I HATE the majorly delayed response of them, I'm talking like a solid 3 seconds between when you press a button, and the action happens at the car regardless of distance. Have they fixed that? The range however, in my...

Need alarm for new car. Been off the forums for a while.

remote start a want or no? after 2 sirens, its just a matter of adding a relay(s), the alarm itself matters not.

You do know how to properly shut down the the alarm while its blaring, without the remote, right? (or did you try that as well?)

    Viper 5701

^ this is true. Hopefully you bought it and had it installed at the same place... I think you meant equip failure and not their problem*

    Viper 5701

did you have it installed in an authorized shop? if so, it should be warrantied for life

    Viper 5701

did you try unplugging everything, then replugging it back in? sounds crazy, but even the current model 5901's (on-board relay's would get stuck causing problems) I have issues with in ALL newer cryslers/dodge

    Viper 5701

if its 4 years old, I can almost guarantee its a bad brain, you have one of the first runs of that unit - they were mostly bad from the factory RIGHT around that time. good luck

How hard is it to install a car alarm?

key in the door and unlock motion will disarm just about ALL fac alarms. 02 Galant, red wire in the drivers door harness (you can get it in the car at the kick, it leads into the door) is the wire you need for disarm Test it by turning the key in the unlock position on the drivers door

How hard is it to install a car alarm?

daboy, Im sure if you were properly taught, you wouldve found that they're fine...working in a busy shop, its unfortunate that speed is looked at equally as important as quality install (they're in biz to make money obviously), and it doesnt get faster than taps. poke and wrap with solder is...

How hard is it to install a car alarm?

You had to have used them wrong or more than likely, used the wrong tool to apply them. I've installed (with no exaggeration) thousands of remote starters and alarms, all with T taps, with a less than 5% come back (if I had to guess) due to a T tap issue.
