I just picked up a pair of RE8's, which I will be running off of my 3rd Memphis MCA3004 amplifier at 230 watts per driver. Will these work well in a door application for midbass?
You can try it, but don't hold your breath expecting spectacular results.
Even RE used to specifically recommend against using them as midbass.
Just because a subwoofer is small (8"), doesn't automatically mean it will play well into higher-than-typical frequencies.
However if you already have a solid front stage, you could still add them to your doors as subwoofers (their intended purpose) for some "true" upfront bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Get buttloads of sound deadening though.........
You are going to have to deaden the **** out of your doors and seal them up best you can.IMO I will be running CDT EF-8 in the door but they have a bit wider freq response than the RE. If you can get the install right it should bring some very nice low-end upfront. Seeing as you can x them over down low. I would start at about 40hz and go from there. The install and deadening will be key to acheive desired end results.
Good luck it should be a blast playing with them though.
